OpenAI has launched its latest language model, o3-pro, for all ChatGPT Pro and Team users, replacing the previous o1-pro model. This rollout includes enhanced capabilities and performance, particularly in areas like science, education, programming, and data analysis, where it has received positive reviews from experts. OpenAI has implemented a rigorous “4/4 reliability” benchmark, ensuring o3-pro answers correctly on all four attempts.
The model features tools for web searches, file analysis, visual reasoning, and personalized responses through memory integration. Pricing for the o3 model has been significantly reduced, now costing $2 for input and $8 for output; o3-pro is priced at $20 and $80, respectively, markedly cheaper than o1-pro. Additionally, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced a delay in the expected release of their open-weights model, citing significant development advancements that require more time. The open-weights model is now anticipated later in the summer.
