OpenAI has launched Sora 2, an advanced model boosting audio and video generation quality. The model aims for enhanced realism in videos, emphasizing “world simulation” to mimic real-world physics, particularly in human movement. Accompanying this release is the Sora app, allowing users to share AI-generated videos through a personalized feed, powered by a recommendation algorithm. Users can create “cameos,” enabling others to insert their likeness in videos, although they maintain control over usage. OpenAI promotes responsible development, implementing strict limits for teenage users and prioritizing creative engagement over passive consumption. The Sora app will initially be invite-only and free for iOS users in the US and Canada, with monetization plans under discussion. Currently, Sora 2 is available for ChatGPT Pro subscribers at $200 per month. With Sora 2 and the app, OpenAI aims to transform digital content creation while addressing user wellbeing.
