OpenAI has launched a new group chat feature in ChatGPT, enhancing collaborative tasks among users. This feature maintains user privacy by ensuring personal ChatGPT memory remains confidential. For instance, users planning a trip can create a group chat where ChatGPT helps compare destinations, generate itineraries, and create packing lists collaboratively. To start a group chat, users can tap the people icon in either new or existing chats, allowing up to twenty participants to join via a shared link. New members can customize their profiles with a name, username, and photo. Similar to traditional messaging platforms, users can rename, mute, or manage participants in the chat. ChatGPT can actively participate in discussions and respond when mentioned. The feature is available for ChatGPT Free, Go, Plus, and Pro subscribers in select regions, including Japan and South Korea, with plans for future expansion based on user feedback.
