OpenAI has launched its first Out Of Home (OOH) advertising campaign in India, starting in Mumbai and set to expand to cities like Bengaluru and Delhi. The campaign highlights practical ChatGPT prompts, such as “Create a meal plan that hits 100g of protein per day,” promoting everyday uses of the AI chatbot. Launched in November 2022, ChatGPT has become synonymous with AI in India, especially among its vast student population, with nearly 50% of users under 24. OpenAI’s market strategy includes partnering with educational institutions to distribute 500,000 ChatGPT licenses through the new OpenAI Learning Accelerator initiative. Furthermore, OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Go, a subscription plan priced at ₹399 per month, offering enhanced features to make AI more accessible. With India’s generative AI market expected to grow significantly, the competition among AI platforms like Gemini and Grok underscores the potential for AI integration in daily life and education.
