The AI Principles & Practices Series, a collaboration between Information Systems and Computing (ISC), the Center for Excellence in Teaching, Learning, and Innovation (CETLI), and Penn Libraries, was launched with a Draw Down the Lightning grant. Aimed at Penn faculty and staff, this interactive training series consists of three in-person sessions: “AI Essentials,” “AI in the Classroom,” and “AI in the Workplace.” Co-lead Jaron Rhodes emphasizes the need for equitable AI training across diverse academic disciplines. Rachel Hoke, who leads the classroom sessions, focuses on hands-on experience, guiding participants through AI tool applications related to their fields while fostering digital literacy. The curriculum highlights privacy considerations, ensuring that attendees are informed about safe tools for use at Penn. Offering foundational knowledge in AI, the series will repeat throughout the year, aiming to adapt and meet evolving educational needs.
