This functionality allows for more comprehensive and context-aware research, enabling users to create detailed reports, product comparisons, and competitive analyses. Launched initially in December 2024, the upgraded tool can analyze various file types, including emails and documents, streamlining research processes that typically take hours into minutes of automated analysis. Users can activate Deep Research via the Tools menu in Gemini’s desktop interface, specifying desired data sources for personalised insights. As competition intensifies among tech giants, with Microsoft and Apple also enhancing their AI integrations, Google aims to position Gemini as an essential tool for professionals managing complex projects. Currently, this upgrade is live for Gemini desktop users, with mobile access anticipated soon.
