On January 2, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi highlighted the urgent need for government action against AI apps that sexualize women, particularly on the Elon Musk-led platform X. In her letter to IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, she called for “guardrails” on AI chatbots like Grok to protect women’s dignity. Chaturvedi emphasized the need for better education of men from a young age to prevent perverse behavior. She criticized the misuse of AI features, where men exploit fake accounts to prompt Grok to alter women’s photos, intensifying privacy breaches. Labeling this trend as a “gross misuse of AI,” she urged that it be addressed to prevent the harassment of women online. With an appeal for accountability among big tech firms, she stressed that society must not tolerate violations of women’s rights disguised as creativity. Chaturvedi’s statement advocates for a safer digital space for women, emphasizing the need for stringent safeguards.
