Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan has recently spoken out about the company’s substantial nearly $600 million investment in artificial intelligence (AI) amid gamer concerns about the production of “generative AI slop.” In an insightful interview on The Verge’s Decoder podcast, Tan emphasized that while gamers are frustrated by low-quality AI-generated content, he believes AI can enhance game development through practical applications like quality assurance and bug detection rather than producing subpar assets. Razer plans to hire 150 AI engineers and introduce innovative features, such as dedicated AI buttons in gaming mice and a dedicated Razer.ai hub. Tan asserted the importance of AI tools that augment game developers’ capabilities, creating immersive, competitive experiences without compromising quality.
