Hugging Face has launched the Reachy Mini, an affordable open-source robot designed for AI and robotics experimentation, with prices starting at $299. This compact 28 cm tall robot is intended for developers, educators, and beginners, offering significant versatility in human-robot interaction. Reachy Mini features programmable capabilities in Python, and soon in JavaScript and Scratch. It includes animated antennas, a wide-angle camera, and a speaker to enhance interactivity. Two versions are available: Reachy Mini Lite at $299, requiring USB connectivity, and the fully autonomous Reachy Mini at $449, complete with a Raspberry Pi 5 and wireless capabilities. Both versions come as self-assembly kits. Emphasizing its open-source ethos, Hugging Face provides a Python SDK, a software simulator, and access to AI models, making it a valuable tool for learning and creative coding. Pre-orders are now open, with deliveries slated from summer to 2026.
