IIIT-Delhi is revolutionizing its evaluation system by permitting the use of AI tools, such as ChatGPT, during exams and assignments. This initiative, currently in pilot phases across select departments, requires students to submit their prompts alongside their responses. The shift is designed to align educational practices with technological advancements and modern learning behaviors. Under the new approach, some tests will be formatted as take-home assessments and supervised on-campus examinations may allow laptop access to AI tools. Faculty will focus on evaluating prompts, reasoning, and analysis rather than memorized responses. To promote academic integrity, students must disclose AI usage in research and sign a declaration of responsibility. Training for faculty will emphasize crafting questions that assess higher-order thinking skills. This innovative model seeks to enhance comprehension and understanding, moving away from rote memorization, and positions IIIT-Delhi as a pioneer in integrating AI into education amid global discussions on AI-generated content.
