Rewind, the innovative app that recorded and transcribed what users saw and heard, is set to shut down in two weeks following Meta’s acquisition of its parent company, Limitless AI. Launched in 2022, Rewind gained popularity for its remarkable data compression capabilities, transforming over 10GB of recorded material into a mere 3MB file. Users appreciated its searchable audio and text history, despite privacy concerns. Limitless AI, now rebranded from Rewind AI, recently released a microphone-enabled device called the Pendant but announced it would cease sales immediately. Existing Pendant customers can expect support for a year, while all other services will end by December 5, 2025, in several countries, including the EU and UK. Users can download their data before service discontinuation. Co-founder Dan Siroker highlighted the alignment with Meta’s vision for AI-enabled wearables and reassured users about their data security in the app. For more details, visit limitless.ai.
