Google Chrome has introduced a new feature called “Skills,” designed to streamline repetitive AI tasks. This innovation allows users to save AI prompts from their chat history as one-click tools, which can be activated via a forward slash (/) or plus (+) button. Skills works on the current webpage while gathering data from opened tabs for a more efficient experience. Early testers have developed personalized toolkits for specific tasks, such as calculating recipe macros or comparing product specifications seamlessly. Google also provides a Skills library with pre-made prompts that users can customize. With a focus on privacy, Skills adheres to Chrome’s security protocols, requiring user approval for significant actions. Currently, this feature is only available on the English-US desktop version of Chrome. Users can manage their Skills by accessing their dashboard through the compass icon after entering the forward slash command. Overall, Skills offers a significant productivity boost.
