Sea Limited Partners with OpenAI to Enhance AI Integration in Southeast Asia’s Fintech Landscape
Sea Limited has entered a Memorandum of Understanding with OpenAI to explore the application of artificial intelligence in commerce, payments, and distribution, targeting consumers and small businesses across Southeast Asia. This collaboration aims to broaden access to AI tools through the integration of Sea’s digital platforms and OpenAI’s technology.
As a first step, Shopee will provide three months of complimentary ChatGPT Plus access to Shopee VIP members in Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam starting August 8, coinciding with the platform’s 8.8 Sales Campaign. This initiative includes enhanced response speeds and early access to new features like ChatGPT Agent.
Forrest Li, CEO of Sea, emphasizes that AI will revolutionize digital interactions, while Oliver Jay from OpenAI highlights Southeast Asia’s potential for rapid AI adoption due to its tech-savvy demographics. The partnership is set to evolve, aiming to empower businesses in the burgeoning digital economy.
