Sea Limited has partnered with OpenAI through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to integrate advanced AI technologies for consumers and small businesses in the APAC region, promoting digital transformation. This collaboration aims to enhance Sea’s digital ecosystem—encompassing e-commerce, digital financial services, and online entertainment—by leveraging AI for improved commerce experiences, payments, and distribution.
As part of this initiative, Shopee, Sea’s e-commerce platform, will offer complimentary access to ChatGPT Plus for its Shopee VIP members during the 8.8 Sales Campaign starting August 8, 2025. This offer will benefit customers in Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam, providing enhanced AI capabilities previously reserved for enterprises.
CEO Forrest Li emphasized AI’s pivotal role in reshaping digital interactions, while OpenAI’s Oliver Jay highlighted Asia’s rapid adoption of AI. This partnership underscores a commitment to empowering communities with innovative, accessible technology in Southeast Asia’s digital economy.
