Senior Project Develops Practical AI Application

Drexel University’s College of Computing & Informatics (CCI) showcased an innovative AI tool, Lobster AI, developed by students throughout the academic year in collaboration with industry partner AOIC, LLC. This project aimed to streamline medical writing, specifically in creating drafts of medical manuscripts from complex clinical trial data. The involved students honed their skills in real-world scenarios through a year-long capstone course, emphasizing communication, teamwork, and professionalism, critical for future careers. The AI tool addresses the labor-intensive nature of manuscript writing by efficiently condensing extensive research protocols, creating a unique product not yet seen in the market. This venture provided significant experiential learning, equating to 27 months when combined with co-op placements. Graduates Leo Li, Abby Tabas, Maame Adwoa Ocran, Jason Morais, and Viven Ho now enter the workforce equipped with valuable insights and experiences. AOIC plans to further develop Lobster AI with the next cohort of Drexel students, demonstrating a commitment to continuous innovation.
