A recent SHL survey highlights a divided U.S. workforce concerning artificial intelligence (AI) in hiring and management. Many employees express deep concerns about AI-induced bias and a decline in human interaction. A significant 58.6% believe AI amplifies workplace bias, while 54.6% feel that AI roles appear impersonal. Trust in AI usage by employers is fragile, with only 26.5% of employees expressing strong trust. Workers are calling for increased transparency and fairness, with 66% advocating for legal disclosure of AI in hiring. While there is a strong desire for AI skill development—48% willing to pursue online courses—many lack clear definitions of necessary skills. Generational gaps are apparent, with Millennials and Gen Z more receptive to AI than older employees. The report stresses that the future of AI in the workplace hinges on employers fostering a culture of trust, transparency, and bridging generational divides, ultimately unlocking employee potential and productivity.
