Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated the AI & Future Skills Centre of Excellence at the Nagaland Tool Room & Training Centre (NTTC) in Dimapur, marking a significant step in driving CSR-backed skilling investments in the state. The initiative reflects a shift in perception among corporate entities about the potential of CSR engagement in Nagaland. Sitharaman highlighted that, post-2022 CSR conclave, businesses began investing in skill-based interventions tailored for the youth. Notable CSR-driven projects now include a Tata Group-supported semiconductors initiative in Kohima and an AI-focused training collaboration between CYIENT Foundation and NTTC in Dimapur. The Centre aims to train 100-150 youths annually in handloom, handicraft, software coding, and robotics, enhancing Nagaland’s economic landscape through technology integration. Prominent figures emphasized the urgency for youth to embrace AI and emerging technologies, ensuring they actively participate in modern production systems. The event also facilitated MoUs between SIDBI and various industry bodies in Nagaland.
