SK Telecom has been appointed as OpenAI’s exclusive business-to-consumer partner in South Korea, coinciding with OpenAI’s launch in the local market. Following the establishment of OpenAI’s Korea office, SK Telecom introduced a promotional offer for ChatGPT Plus, the premium version of the AI chatbot. New subscribers can enjoy two additional months of service for the price of one, enhancing access to features like voice interaction and deep research capabilities. This partnership aims to expand collaboration between SK Telecom and OpenAI beyond consumer services into business-to-business solutions. Both companies previously co-hosted an AI hackathon and are founding members of the MIT GenAI Impact Consortium. As part of its strategy, SK Telecom is investing in AI partnerships to enhance its competitive edge, including collaborations with Amazon Web Services and Anthropic. The company’s dual-track AI strategy focuses on global partnerships and in-house innovations to build a robust AI ecosystem in Korea.
