Snowflake is enhancing its Cortex Code CLI AI coding agent to support non-native data sources, beginning with dbt and Apache Airflow. This update allows organizations to interact with secure, context-aware AI assistants directly within their preferred data engineering systems, instead of solely relying on Snowflake’s platform. The ability to access multi-system workflows will aid in standardizing data, enhancing AI visibility over pipelines, and mitigating data sprawl and siloes.
Snowflake’s recent initiatives also include joining the Open Semantic Interchange (OSI) alongside companies like BlackRock and Salesforce, acquiring the observability platform Observe, and collaborating with Microsoft to connect the Snowflake AI Data Cloud with the Power Platform. According to Christian Kleinerman, EVP of Product, this expansion is designed to meet the evolving needs of developers, facilitating integration and data management across diverse platforms and workflows, ultimately optimizing their AI journey.
