Southeastern Secures $500,000 Grant from State Regents to Enhance AI Initiatives

The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education (OSRHE) has awarded Southeastern Oklahoma State University approximately $500,000 for the “Southeastern AI: Advancing Education, Efficiency, and Economic Growth” initiative. This multi-faceted program aims to integrate artificial intelligence into education and workforce development across southeastern Oklahoma. Key components include a Regular and Substantive Interaction Evaluator for online learning, a University Stress Test Tool for informed decision-making, and a dual-phase AI system for on-campus exploration. A dedicated AI and IoT Lab will foster innovation, while a Community Engagement and Workforce Readiness program will enhance AI literacy in partnership with local organizations. President Dr. David Whitlock emphasizes the initiative’s goal to position Southeastern as a regional leader in AI. Local leaders also support the project, highlighting its potential to boost economic development and strengthen community ties. This initiative aligns with the State Regents’ Blueprint 2030 plan, reinforcing the commitment to advancing educational outcomes through technology.
