Square Enix is set to enhance the Dragon Quest X experience by integrating Google’s Gemini generative AI model, introducing an innovative in-game companion named Oshaberi Slimey (or Chatty Slimey). This AI-powered ally will communicate through generated text and voice responses, offering a dynamic interaction based on players’ actions. Oshaberi Slimey will recognize events such as outfit changes, enemy defeats, and rare item discoveries, reacting accordingly. Additionally, players can seek hints and gameplay assistance, receiving guidance on their progression. This feature is part of broader updates for the MMORPG and will enter a trial phase in late April 2026. Coinciding with these developments, Square Enix is releasing Dragon Quest X Online Version 8.0, titled Stray Children of Space and Time, on June 25, 2026, in Japan. The expansion introduces a new narrative focusing on interdimensional travel and will be available on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC, though no Western release plans are currently indicated.
