Google Provides Free AI Resources to Sri Lankan Students
Google has partnered with the Sri Lankan Ministry of Digital Economy to offer its advanced AI platform, Gemini, and additional premium student benefits free of charge to students nationwide. This initiative, announced by Deputy Minister Eranga Weeraratne, marks a significant step in enhancing digital literacy and AI development across Sri Lanka. The program will grant students access to cutting-edge artificial intelligence tools, cloud computing platforms, and digital learning resources, empowering them to innovate and solve complex challenges on a global scale. Weeraratne remarked that this initiative would “level the playing field,” enabling students to compete internationally. However, he stressed the importance of ethical usage, encouraging students to use these powerful resources responsibly. The rollout of this transformative program is anticipated to begin soon, with more details forthcoming from the Ministry, setting a new standard for digital education in Sri Lanka.
