The 2025 Go Developer Survey highlights that most Go language developers utilize AI-powered software development tools, yet their satisfaction remains average. Published on January 21 on the go.dev blog, the survey gathered insights from 5,739 developers in September 2025. Notably, while 91% of Go developers appreciate the language itself, only 55% express satisfaction with AI tools, predominantly leaning towards “Somewhat satisfied” (42%) rather than “Very satisfied” (13%). Participants shared mixed experiences: 53% struggled with non-functional code, while 30% reported issues with the quality of generated code. In contrast, the primary advantages noted included efficient unit test generation, boilerplate code creation, improved autocompletion, effective refactoring, and streamlined documentation generation. Overall, while AI tools show promise for Go developers, there are significant areas for improvement in functionality and code quality.
