Minister of Education Dr. Ismail Shafeeu has announced a forthcoming campaign to train teachers in utilizing AI tools across all subjects, set to launch next year. This initiative was revealed during the inaugural Principals’ Conference in Crossroads Maldives, presided over by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. Dr. Shafeeu emphasized the necessity of developing critical thinking in students, stating that it is essential for pursuing meaningful career paths post-graduation. He noted the importance of nurturing curiosity and skills in students, which requires well-trained teachers. To facilitate this, the ministry will organize professional development sessions during Ramadan, focusing on AI tool education. This aligns with the goal of preparing students for a tech-savvy future amid rapid technological advancements. The campaign aims to enhance educators’ technical skills and integrate AI into everyday teaching practices, ensuring students are equipped with essential life skills.
