Tech Giants Gear Up for Deepseek’s Upcoming Major Release: Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic on High Alert

Chinese AI startup Deepseek has trained a new AI model using Nvidia’s advanced Blackwell chips, allegedly defying US export restrictions, according to a Reuters report. A Trump administration official claims these chips are located in a data center in Inner Mongolia, and Deepseek plans to eliminate any trace of US technology before the model’s release, anticipated next week. Speculation about chip smuggling has been prevalent since late last year, yet how Deepseek acquired the chips remains unclear. Nvidia has not commented on the matter, nor have Deepseek or the US Department of Commerce. This development positions Deepseek to potentially disrupt the market, especially as competitors like Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic cite attacks on their models from Chinese firms. The impending launch suggests that Deepseek could offer competitive pricing and high-quality AI solutions, reminiscent of the significant impact it had on US tech stocks in early 2025 during the AI boom.
