Tech Mahindra Develops Indigenous 1-Trillion-Parameter LLM Under IndiaAI Mission
On October 15, 2025, Tech Mahindra CEO Mohit Joshi announced the development of a sovereign large language model (LLM) with 1 trillion parameters, part of the Indian government’s IndiaAI Mission. Selected alongside seven entities, including Fractal Analytics and an IIT Bombay consortium, Tech Mahindra aims to enhance AI capabilities while advancing the nation’s technological leadership. Parameters in AI define internal variables learned during model training, essential for identifying intricate patterns in language data. Joshi highlighted the project as a significant milestone, underscoring Tech Mahindra’s commitment to innovation and productivity through its “AI Delivered Right” strategy. Despite a 4.5% decline in net profit to ₹1,195 crore for Q2 FY26, revenue from operations rose 5.1% to ₹13,995 crore, showcasing resilience amid external economic challenges.
