The Overwhelming Clarity of AI Fitness Summaries

Share

After nearly a decade of testing wearables, I’ve gathered extensive health and fitness data but grown frustrated with AI-generated summaries in fitness apps like Strava, Whoop, and Oura. While features like Strava’s Athlete Intelligence aim to simplify data, they often echo the same metrics found in graphs without true insight. A recent Strava summary failed to address crucial context, like the hazards of increasing mileage in extreme heat and my resultant injury. Despite some platforms providing basic suggestions (e.g., sticking to low-intensity workouts), AI chatbots often give generic responses that don’t account for individual experiences. While some users report positive experiences with features like Oura Advisor, they often lack depth and may lead to misguided conclusions. In their current state, AI insights seem to be a band-aid solution rather than a revolutionary tool, needing significant improvement for users seeking actionable, personalized health guidance.
