TikTok Empowers Users to Limit AI Content in Their Feeds

TikTok is empowering users to control AI-generated content in their feeds, as the platform currently hosts over 1 billion AI videos. This feature, set for global rollout after testing, comes amid a rise in AI-driven content through tools like OpenAI’s Sora and Google’s Veo 3. Notably, nearly 10% of the fastest-growing YouTube channels showcase only AI-generated material, often labeled as “AI slop” due to its low quality and absurdity. Users can customize AI content visibility in the app’s “manage topic” settings. TikTok mandates that creators label realistic AI content, with untagged videos subject to removal. The platform is also introducing an “AI-made” watermark to its AI-generated videos and launching a $2 million AI literacy fund to promote responsible AI usage. Despite cutting 439 jobs in moderation, TikTok maintains that human oversight remains crucial, ensuring a balance between technology and human intervention for user safety.
