Traffic Issues Surge Amidst Intensified Construction of OpenAI and Oracle Data Centers

Heavy Construction Traffic in Saline Township, MI Due to Data Center Development

Saline Township, MI, is experiencing increased construction truck traffic on Michigan Avenue/U.S. 12, primarily due to the ongoing groundwork for the contentious “Stargate” data center. Developers Related Digital are preparing the 2.2-million-square-foot site for OpenAI and Oracle. This week alone, an additional 77 trucks delivered concrete for foundation pads, supplementing an already high traffic volume of approximately 300 trucks daily. Township engineer Dan Cabage expects this surge to continue for the next two to three weeks before normalizing in March, contingent on the installation of an onsite concrete batch plant. Residents have reported concerns over speeding trucks, violations of traffic signals, and mud on streets. Complaints regarding construction noise have also prompted requests for modified working hours. Township Supervisor James Marion echoed these safety concerns during recent community discussions.
