The two-day online event by the European Institute of Public Administration focused on practical applications of generative AI in public administration, aiming to enhance the digital capacity of public authorities in Istria following the implementation of the Just Transition Fund (JTF). Participants learned AI fundamentals, the EU’s AI Act, and ethical considerations for the public sector. The program featured hands-on exercises covering AI’s role in project management, including drafting proposals, scenario planning, and SWOT analysis. Special attention was given to prompt engineering techniques, notably the “CRAFTY” method, to optimize queries for AI tools. The interactive format fostered peer learning and immediate applicability to real JTF projects. Feedback highlighted the workshop’s value in strengthening technical capacity for managing EU-funded projects, promoting efficiency and improved results. This initiative is part of the wider JTP Groundwork package, promoting digital skills and innovation for a sustainable transition in Istria’s public sector.
