Gujarat Police has introduced ‘NARIT’, an innovative AI tool designed to enhance narcotics investigations. Announced on Friday, ‘NARIT’ provides real-time legal advice for NDPS cases, helping investigators build stronger cases and assess the strengths and weaknesses of their arguments. Utilizing Retrieval Augmented Generation technology, this advanced tool predicts courtroom outcomes based on historical judgments and ensures procedural compliance. The aim is to boost conviction rates by offering comprehensive investigative support. ‘NARIT’ was developed by the Western Railway police in Vadodara, in collaboration with a Mumbai AI startup, under the guidance of police officials including Abhay Soni. This initiative marks a significant advancement in technology adoption for law enforcement, reinforcing Gujarat’s strict zero-tolerance policy on narcotics crimes. The introduction of ‘NARIT’ symbolizes a critical step towards more efficient and effective criminal investigations, ultimately enhancing public safety and justice in the region.
