Nigerian fashion-tech startup Vazzel, founded in 2024 by Mayowa Akande and Bolaji Wahab, aims to digitize Africa’s fashion economy using AI and inclusive commerce tools. It offers an AI-powered marketplace for vendors to launch virtual storefronts selling a variety of fashion items. Vazzel’s unique AI sizing feature generates accurate measurements from photos, addressing common sizing errors in online shopping. The platform focuses on local vendors and has successfully attracted over 500 sign-ups through effective digital marketing. Having developed a functional MVP and completed a beta test in March, Vazzel plans to launch fully next month while seeking funding and strategic partnerships for growth. Initially focused on Nigeria, the startup aims to expand into other African countries and diaspora communities in the UK, Europe, and the US. Vazzel employs a multi-stream revenue model, including commission-based sales and premium subscriptions, with revenue generation set to commence at the official launch.
