The Trump administration is set to launch an initiative promoting AI across federal agencies with the upcoming AI.gov website. Developed by the General Services Administration (GSA) and its Technology Transformation Services (TTS), the site aims to centralize AI integration within government operations. TTS chief Thomas Shedd, previously a software integration manager at Tesla, seeks to establish a comprehensive AI strategy to automate federal work. AI.gov will feature a chatbot, an all-in-one API connecting agencies to major AI models, and a tool called “CONSOLE” for real-time monitoring of AI usage in government. The initiative is scheduled to commence on July 4, despite concerns about security risks linked to AI’s handling of sensitive data. While the GitHub repository initially went offline, it remains archived for those interested. The project reflects the government’s efforts to advance AI, amidst criticism over potential implications for employee roles and data privacy.
