The UAE’s Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications Office has announced that Google Gemini ranked first in the innovative “AI in the Ring” Index, the inaugural metric evaluating AI language models for cultural relevance in Emirati society. This benchmark consists of over 400 questions assessed on seven cultural dimensions, with evaluations conducted by Emirati experts on AI outputs. Following Gemini, other leading models included ChatGPT and Cohere. His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama highlighted the importance of aligning AI with national identity, noting that less than 5% of Arabic content is digital, further emphasizing the need for culturally accurate AI to preserve UAE heritage.
