Ukrainians have named their national large language model (LLM) “Siaivo” (“Radiance”) following a vote that engaged over 136,000 participants, according to the Ministry of Digital Transformation. This initiative, developed in collaboration with Kyivstar, aims to streamline public services, education, business, and defense, enhancing data processing and automation. Among ten finalists, “Siaivo” emerged victorious, amassing 22,538 votes based on unique, plagiarism-free submissions. The national LLM is set for beta testing in spring 2026, with expert teams currently establishing evaluation benchmarks to ensure efficient and safe performance. This strategic move highlights Ukraine’s commitment to leveraging AI technology to foster innovation and improve digital infrastructure. As the country evolves its AI capabilities, “Siaivo” is positioned to serve as a cornerstone for future digital products and services. This development underscores the importance of community engagement and the role of public participation in shaping national technological policies.
