Microsoft’s Chairman and CEO, Satya Nadella, recently announced the statewide rollout of MahaCrimeOS AI for Maharashtra Police, enhancing cybercrime investigation across all 1,100 police stations. Developed in partnership with the Maharashtra Government and its MARVEL initiative, this AI-powered platform allows officers to process complaints efficiently, analyze complex data, and generate automated investigation plans tailored to state protocols. Initially piloted in 25 police stations in Nagpur Rural, MahaCrimeOS AI has already been employed in 261 cases, significantly speeding up investigations by automating routine administrative tasks.
With features such as multimodal intelligence and compliance with legal frameworks, this innovative tool empowers all officers to conduct complex investigations without waiting for senior approvals. By integrating AI-driven insights into traditional procedures, Maharashtra aims to modernize law enforcement, streamline processes, and improve crime prediction, setting a precedent as India’s inaugural AI-led policing model.
