University AI Experts Organize Youth Conference on Campus

The AI Youth Conference at the University of Huddersfield attracted dozens of students from local schools and colleges, providing insight into artificial intelligence (AI) and its applications. Organized by the School of Computing and Engineering, the event aimed to offer an authentic university experience while showcasing the newly established Institute of Applied AI. The conference featured a keynote address by Professor Richard Hill, exploring themes centered on four personas: The Detective (Cybersecurity), The Explorer (Computer Vision), The Linguist (Large Language Models), and The Logician (Symbolic AI). Workshops led by university experts included live demonstrations and hands-on activities, emphasizing the integration of AI into modern technology. The event culminated in a panel discussion on building careers in the AI age, addressing student queries on AI employment and ethics. With over 50 participants from institutions like Greenhead College and UTC Sheffield, the conference highlighted the University’s commitment to nurturing future innovators in the digital landscape.
