Google is integrating its advanced generative AI, Gemini, into Google smart home devices, starting this month. Initially available in limited capacity, users with Google Nest devices can request early access through the Google Home app. To do so, navigate to your profile icon, click Home Settings, and select Early Access.
Gemini for Home is designed to offer superior functionality compared to the previous Google Assistant, allowing users to engage in seamless conversations without constantly saying “Hey, Google.” To initiate a chat, simply say, “Hey Google, let’s chat.” Ensure your Google Home app is updated to version 4.0 or later for compatibility.
While access will be gradual, interested users may have to wait for notification confirmation. Google recently announced new Nest devices, hinting at further integration of Gemini for Home into the smart home ecosystem, moving away from traditional voice assistance.
