OpenAI has introduced Agent mode in its ChatGPT macOS app, available to Plus subscribers. This feature, accessible via the toolbar, allows users to run long tasks in the background while they work on other activities. Agent mode combines the power of Deep Research with the functionality of the previous Operator feature, enabling ChatGPT to effectively plan events or create presentations by sourcing data autonomously. Users may experience issues locating the Agent icon initially, but can access it by typing “/” in the prompt. While the Mac app offers better integration compared to the web version, including a keyboard shortcut for quick access, it raises security concerns, as Sam Altman noted. Alongside Agent mode, the app features Advanced Voice Mode for real-time interaction. Although Windows users await an update, the Mac version is poised to enhance productivity through its innovative capabilities.
