BBVA is enhancing its AI capabilities for employees, following studies indicating that AI users significantly save time in their tasks. The Spanish bank has partnered with Google Cloud to deploy Google’s AI assistant Gemini across its workforce. This collaboration enables access to the Gemini app, Google Workspace with integrated Gemini, and NotebookLM, a powerful AI research assistant. This marks BBVA’s second foray into generative AI, having earlier adopted 3,300 ChatGPT Enterprise licenses through OpenAI, which grew to 11,000 licenses due to high daily usage among employees. Automation with ChatGPT has reportedly saved employees an average of 2.8 hours weekly, allowing for more strategic work. To support this AI adoption, BBVA is launching a mandatory training program, “AI Express,” ensuring compliance with the EU’s AI Act and internal data protection policies. This initiative underscores BBVA’s commitment to enhancing productivity and employee experience through AI integration.
