Google has introduced AI Gems to its Workspace tools, including Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, and Gmail, effective July 2, 2025. These AI helpers were previously exclusive to the Gemini app and are designed to enhance productivity. Gems offer a variety of functionalities, such as the Writing Editor for content improvement, Sales Pitch Creator for business ideas, Coding Partner for basic coding assistance, and Personal Assistant for task organization and summarization. Users can also create custom Gems tailored to individual needs, eliminating the need to switch tabs for assistance. With Gems in the side panel, users can seamlessly write tailored content, enhance communication with clients, summarize lengthy correspondence, and evaluate how content is perceived by different audiences. Accessing Gems is easy—simply click the spark icon and choose or create your Gem.
