India’s early-stage artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem is experiencing a surge in venture capital investments, particularly in developer tools and infrastructure. With enterprise AI adoption accelerating, platforms that integrate AI into applications are gaining traction. Key investors like Accel, Lightspeed, and Elevation Capital are supporting startups focused on AI-driven software and DevOps automation. Notably, Elevation Capital has significantly increased its AI investments, closing 15–20 deals in two years compared to an average of just 5–6 previously. Major fundraising events include UnifyApps, which is raising $20-25 million, and Emergent AI, securing $20 million shortly after launching. Indian GenAI startups raised $524 million in early 2025, marking a notable increase from previous years. With a robust tech talent pool, lower scaling costs, and global investment interest, India is poised to become a significant player in AI development and infrastructure despite strong competition from the US market.
