Viral Reddit Critique of Food Delivery Apps Could Be AI-Generated

A viral post on Reddit, allegedly from a “major food delivery app” employee, is suspected to be an AI-generated hoax, according to The Verge. The post and a shared ID image were flagged as AI-generated by detection tools like Gemini and Claude. Garnering over 80,000 upvotes, the inflammatory claims suggest that the “Priority Delivery” option doesn’t affect speeds, drivers are sorted by desperation, and tips are stolen. While no specific company is named, concerns about driver mistreatment resonate, given known issues like misleading pay structures. Executives from DoorDash and Uber Eats have denied these allegations, with DoorDash CEO Tony Xu stating that such a culture would not be tolerated. Further investigation revealed the provided employee badge appeared AI-generated and incorrectly stated “Uber Eats.” While no direct harm comes from this post, it highlights ongoing reputation challenges for food delivery apps.
