Walmart is enhancing its operations through AI-powered tools designed to support store associates. A new task management solution has decreased shift planning time from 90 to 30 minutes, while the Walmart associate app now offers translation in 44 languages to aid communication. A forthcoming upgrade will improve conversational AI, which currently handles 3 million queries daily, enabling it to convert lengthy guides into concise instructions. Greg Cathey, Walmart’s SVP of Transformation and Innovation, emphasized that AI, when combined with human strengths, leads to transformative results. These advancements align with the growing consumer acceptance of AI, as seen in similar initiatives by Target, Lowe’s, and Starbucks. Walmart is also integrating RFID technology with its VizPick AR tool to streamline stock management, guiding associates efficiently in merchandise retrieval. All these AI tools are built on Walmart’s proprietary Element machine learning platform, ensuring rapid deployment while prioritizing data governance and security.
