Meta is introducing a new feature called ‘Writing Help’ on WhatsApp, leveraging Meta AI to enhance messaging experiences. This innovative tool offers users suggestions in various tones, including professional, humorous, and supportive, similar to Microsoft SwiftKey’s ‘Tone’ feature. Users can access Writing Help by drafting messages in 1:1 or group chats and selecting the pencil icon.
To ensure privacy, Meta employs a unique ‘Private Processing’ technique, processing messages within a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) and a Confidential Virtual Machine (CVM), which safeguards users’ content from being read by Meta or WhatsApp. This feature aligns with Meta’s commitment to AI integration while prioritizing user privacy. Previously, WhatsApp introduced AI-driven Message Summaries for unread chats using similar technology. Currently, Writing Help is available in English, rolling out in the U.S. and select countries, with plans for broader language and regional availability later this year.
