WhatsApp has launched a new feature called Writing Help, leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance message clarity and tone. This innovative tool aims to reduce miscommunication in everyday conversations. By tapping a pencil icon while composing a message, users can access various alternatives, including professional, supportive, or humorous tones, ensuring their communication aligns with the context.
Developed using Meta’s private processing technology, Writing Help prioritizes user privacy, with all processing done securely on the device. WhatsApp assures users that neither the original messages nor AI-generated suggestions are visible to external parties, supported by independent audits.
Initially rolled out in English within the United States and select countries, WhatsApp plans to expand Writing Help to other languages and regions later this year. This feature complements existing tools like message summaries, demonstrating WhatsApp’s commitment to integrating AI while maintaining end-to-end encryption and user security.
