While I’m no fan of Copilot, I must acknowledge Microsoft’s impressive improvements to this Windows 11 app.

Microsoft’s Windows 11 Copilot app has received an update for testers, enhancing its search functionality with powerful natural language processing. Currently available to Windows Insiders with Copilot+ PCs, the app allows users to perform semantic file searches. This means you can ask conversational queries like “find the file with the tiramisu recipe,” and the app will locate it by searching stored files. Additionally, the revised home page now displays recently used files, apps, and conversations, making navigation easier. Privacy concerns are addressed, ensuring that Copilot does not deeply access your system; it only utilizes the ‘recent’ folder data, and uploads files only when users explicitly query for them. This update signals Microsoft’s push towards AI-driven search capabilities across Windows 11, possibly phasing out traditional search methods in favor of Copilot’s intelligent assistance. To test these new features, users can download the latest update from the Microsoft Store.
