Windows 11 Introduces ‘Share with Copilot’: Enhancing App Interaction with AI

Microsoft has introduced the “Share with Copilot” feature in Windows 11, allowing AI to access open apps directly from the taskbar for improved assistance. While this enhances productivity, it raises significant privacy concerns, as it is enabled by default. By hovering over an app, users can share it with Copilot, enabling AI to suggest edits and provide relevant guidance based on visible content. Although Copilot is designed to respect privacy by skipping protected content like streaming services, all applications appear accessible. This feature aligns with Microsoft’s goal of seamlessly integrating AI into the Windows experience, making it feel like an essential assistant. However, users must be cautious, as sharing app windows can expose sensitive information. Disabling this feature is straightforward: navigate to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar and adjust the preferences accordingly. If privacy is a concern, reconsider using this tool. Microsoft’s aggressive AI integration may also challenge users’ comfort levels.
