YouTube is testing a new AI-powered search results carousel for its Premium users on Android and iOS, which will be available until July 30. This feature offers “Highlights” that display AI-generated titles, descriptions, and clips relevant to user queries. For example, a search for “best beaches in Hawaii” will show a highlighted video clip along with thumbnail suggestions tailored to the search, all marked with Google’s classic AI star. In addition, YouTube is expanding its conversational AI features to some non-Premium users in the U.S. This includes an “Ask” button under videos for generating summaries, recommendations, or additional content based on user prompts. YouTube is gradually integrating AI into its platform, enhancing user experience while acknowledging that the technology may have limitations. The AI search results aim to provide quick and relevant information, similar to Google’s AI Overviews.
