YouTube has launched an AI likeness detection feature aimed at protecting creators’ identities and combating misleading deepfakes. This tool enables creators to identify, manage, and request the removal of unauthorized AI-generated videos using their facial likeness. Available in YouTube Studio’s content detection tab, it requires creators to complete an identity verification process, including submitting a photo ID and a selfie video. Once verified, creators receive alerts about potentially unauthorized videos, with details on titles, channels, views, and dialogue. They can also submit removal requests for both AI likeness and copyright violations. Access to this feature will roll out to YouTube Partner Program members in the coming months, with all monetized creators expected to gain access by January 2026. This initiative underscores YouTube’s commitment to fostering a safe and reliable environment for content creators and their audiences.
